Tasting Notes:
The 21 Peter Martin Ray Chardonnay showcases the undeniable vitality of California terroir, proving that the Santa Cruz Mountains' unique conditions continue to shape wines of remarkable depth and character. This wine is supremely layered, and briny.
The expressive nose is full with delicate floral notes of elderflower and lemon verbena, complemented by the bright scent of preserved Meyer lemons. There’s a savory undertone of freshly toasted bread, balanced by hints of salty ocean air—signature qualities of the region’s cool, coastal influence.
On the palate, the wine is textured and taut, with a precise saline backbone that brings a refreshing lift to its rich complexity.
This Chardonnay captures the "push-pull" of ripeness and mineral tension, and as Erin Brooks of Wine Advocate describes, it will only continue to develop with time, becoming more nuanced and long-lived in the cellar.
*Wine is unfined & unfiltered, so natural sediment may be in the bottle*
